BAND IN A BOX – TOLEDO KESCH
"all
about the band, in its own words"
From
The Oregonian A&E,
Feb. 20, 2004
SOUND:
Blues-Rock that speaks very fluent groove. Our moms think it’s
like Little Feat meets Steely Dan meets Delbert McClinton meets
Van Halen. Mmmm… We’d describe it as good old fashion
Rock & Roll with some Flavahh…!
MEMBERS:
You can blame: Brian Crandall (Bass), John Elliott (Drums), Dan
Jolley (Guitars) & Billy Nichols (Keyboards). Seasoned and baked
to a crackly crunch, there are miles on the tires after running
with the likes of Marilin Monroe, Sky River, Michael Harrison and
other victims too numerous to count; but there is still plenty of
gas in the tank.
ACCESSORIES AFTER THE FACT:
Usually a sax player and percussionist, but always very large speaker
cabinets.
AFTER A GIG, NOTHING TASTES BETTER THAN:
Besides the cold adult beverage of our choice it would probably
be the kinship shared within the band (yeah, yeah, we know it sounds
corny, but it’s true) … Oh yeah, and the kiss of our
sweeties!
WHAT’S IN OUR CD PLAYERS RIGHT NOW?
Kenny Wayne Shephard (Brian); Lions of Batucada (John); Dave Weckl
(Dan); Chopin (Billy), go figure.
OCCASIONALLY WE COVER:
“Jumpin’ at Shadows”, by Gary Moore, warts &
all.
FAVORITE LOCAL VENUES:
Outdoor gigs are our favorites, like “the Bite” or “Tuesday
Market” in Hillsboro. Gigging downtown on the rooftop at Jax
(maybe the best kept secret in Portland) as the sun goes down on
a hot July night is absolutely magic.
GUILTY PLEASURES:
Here’s what we’ll admit (after consulting our Attorney):
Adult Beverages in all their glory, short skirts (not on us), off-color
jokes, Mr. Bean, Tom Jones, deep-fried Twinkies.
MOST TREASURED INSTRUMENT:
Hammond Organ, of course.
ON THE RECORD:
Recently released our first record – “For the Money”,
(available on our web site or cdbaby.com); currently working on
our second as yet untitled record due out late this summer.
ON THE WEB:
www.toledokesch.com -- hey, that's right here!
